About him
I grew up around Nottingham, but life and work have taken me all over the UK, including Scotland, Devon and even a little time in the Nordics. These days I'm back in the rural East Midlands and enjoying life now that my kids are all young adults finding their own way in the world, which means that after years of being a full-on parent and taxi service, I'm rediscovering what I enjoy and trying a few new things along the way. Over the last few years I've made an effort to prioritise my health and wellbeing. I've reached the stage in life where I voluntarily go for long walks and get weirdly excited when something survives in the vegetable patch. Life comes at you fast. I'm also keen to do more resistance training, so if you know your deadlifts from your dumbbells, I may need guidance.
These days I’m happiest outdoors, a trip up to the Peaks or the coast are always good, and I enjoy travelling, although my idea of a holiday is less cocktails by the pool and more discovering somewhere interesting, soaking up the atmosphere and perhaps doing a bit of tourist scuba diving. A perfect day might involve a film, a play, an exhibition, a museum, or simply wandering around somewhere new and seeing where the day takes us. I enjoy eating out occasionally, but I'm not really someone who lives for expensive restaurants or big nights out. I'm experimenting with gardening and healthy cooking, with varying degrees of success, and I do quite a lot of voluntary work for a mental health charity, which I find genuinely rewarding.
Friends would probably describe me as approachable, sociable and easy to get along with, with a dry sense of humour and occasional flashes of the absurd. Life's too short to spend every evening asking Netflix if we're still watching. So, what does a really good weekend look like for you?
